America: The New Axis Power?
America an axis power in the next war? It could happen. Elections have consequences. The eyes of the world are on us.

With Russian dictator Putin’s invasion of Ukraine two years ago under the same false pretenses Adolf Hitler used to start what ultimately exploded into global conflict, we find ourselves experiencing disturbing deja-vu.
As we hear more daily examples of Donald Trump channeling Adolf Hitler, and threats of the United States sliding into fascism should Trump win re-election in November become more obvious, we need to ask the question: Could America become an Axis power?

Trump’s repudiation of NATO is nothing new; he spent his entire four years as president as a mouthpiece for Putin’s ultimate wish to destroy the international alliance preventing him from re-creating the Soviet Union.
Even as the for-profit corporate media is working overtime trying convince us President Joe Biden’s age is the most pressing issue facing the country, we should care about the consequences of even just suggesting to an adversary that we, the United States of America, would not only step aside, but “encourage” (Trump’s word) a Russian invasion of Europe if the nations comprising NATO didn’t pay up. (Pretty rich for a guy notorious for not paying up himself.)
In case you missed it, last week in South Carolina, the twice-impeached, four-times indicted former reality TV slumlord found criminally liable for rape facing 91 felony counts boasted to a crowd during a campaign rally:
One of the presidents of a big country stood up and said: ‘Well, sir, if we don’t pay, and we’re attacked by Russia, will you protect us?’ I said: ‘You didn’t pay, you’re delinquent? No, I would not protect you.’ In fact, I would encourage them to do whatever the hell they want. You got to pay. You got to pay your bills.
(Whether that conversation with “one of the president of a big country” even occurred is questionable.)
This type of rhetoric is irresponsible, dangerous, and, as President Biden characterized it, “dumb, shameful, and unamerican,” to simply shrug it off as typical Trump bloviating.
President Biden weighed in, said:
Encouraging invasions of our closest allies by murderous regimes is appalling and unhinged — and it endangers American national security, global stability, and our economy at home.
No other president in our history has ever bowed down to a Russian dictator. Let me say this as clearly as I can: I never will.
Former NATO Alliance Supreme Commander, Gen. Wesley Clark, added:
You can’t put enough adjectives on this to describe how treasonous such a comment is. How unfeeling, how insensitive to the fears of Europeans, many of whom have lived under Russian oppression. They know exactly what it is. They’re much closer to the problem in Ukraine than Donald Trump has ever been. And they know what’s going on there.
This is a war of extinction against a nation of 40 million people to destroy the culture of the language, the history, and anybody who’s associated with resistance to Russia occupation. So you could have 10 million people killed. If Russia comes in there.
Trump just is all about himself.
He makes shocking statements.
Maybe he wouldn’t actually do this.
Maybe it’s just for theater, but he shouldn’t do such things. And we know from his previous administration that he actually was working to disassemble NATO
So I put a lot of credence in what he says.
It’s not just a shock statement all over. It is that this is a warning to the American people about what’s going to happen if Donald Trump becomes the next president of the United States.
NATO secretary-general, Jens Stoltenberg, underscored the grave threat.
“Any suggestion that allies will not defend each other undermines all of our security, including that of the US, and puts American and European soldiers at increased risk,” he warned. “I expect that regardless of who wins the presidential election, the US will remain a strong and committed NATO ally.”
Supporting Ukraine is preventing world war three.
As Vladimir Putin made clear in his interview with trust-fund nepo-baby Tucker Carlson, NATO member Poland is a possible target should Ukraine fall, as are probably the Baltic states, in an attempt to reconstitute the former Soviet Union.
NATO’s Article 5 states unambiguously:
The Parties agree that an armed attack against one or more of them in Europe or North America shall be considered an attack against them all and consequently they agree that, if such an armed attack occurs, each of them, in exercise of the right of individual or collective self-defence recognized by Article 51 of the Charter of the United Nations, will assist the Party or Parties so attacked by taking forthwith, individually and in concert with the other Parties, such action as it deems necessary, including the use of armed force, to restore and maintain the security of the North Atlantic area.
But Donald Trump is fine with abandoning this agreement.
The republican party deigning to Trump’s every maniacal whim would likely have no problem using its well-funded right-wing hate media machine to justify going along with him. There would be some opposition, sure, but if the past four decades, and definitely the past seven years, are any indication, the bulwark between democracy and fascism that used to protect the United States is rapidly eroding.
It happens from within, and the machinations to accomplish it are already in motion.
America an axis power in the next war?
It could happen.
Elections have consequences.
The eyes of the world are on us.
