Hey, Republicans, There's No Need for "Civil War." Just Nominate Trump Again. We All Know You Want To.
Of all the potential nominees, Trump would be the easiest to beat.

Well, it happened.
Some, myself included, thought it was just bluster.
But Donald Trump, the twice-impeached 45th president of the United States, has once again declared his candidacy for the GOP nomination.
In many — likely most — Trump’s announcement produced agita, anxiety, dread. Maybe even PTSD.
Before I say something unpopular here, though, let me clarify I am no secret Trump supporter.
I’m not a troll. (Says every troll, right?)
I am progressive FDR Democrat terrified about the potential for fascism toward which the republican party appears hell-bent on taking us.
I fear for democracy should we elevate an authoritarian-leaning republican to the nation’s highest office in 2024.
That’s why I hope the post-2022 mid-term republican party finds it’s in its best interest to nominate Donald Trump again.
Consider, if he’s the nominee, the republican party (you know, the “law and order” bunch so concerned with crime and inflation) would be forced to defend its twice-impeached former standard bearer who twice lost the popular vote, lost control of Congress, tanked the economy, killed over a million Americans by downplaying a plague he knew was deadly, broke elections laws, violated the Constitution’s emoluments clause, told over 30,000 lies, plotted an insurrection against the government that included attempted murder against his own vice president, stole from veterans with a sham online university for which he was forced to pay $25 million in education fraud fines, stole classified documents, surrendered to the Taliban, is the subject of multiple criminal investigations (several of them sexual assault), and continues to suck up to foreign dictators.
Of all the potential nominees, Trump would be the easiest to beat.
Several prominent Democrats agree.
Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, chair of the Senate Budget Committee, two-time presidential candidate, told The New York Times:
As an American, the idea of another Trump campaign and all of his lies and divisiveness and his efforts to undermine American democracy is an absolute horror show. On the other hand, I got to say that as a politician who wants to see that no Republican is elected to the White House in 2024, from that perspective, his candidacy is probably a good thing.
Former Virginia governor and Democratic National Committee chairman, Terry McAuliffe, concurred in a recent interview, “I think we would all like Donald Trump to run again.”
2016 America is not 2022 America, which isn’t the America America will be in 2024.
No matter who the Democratic party nominates, Joe Biden again or someone else, Donald Trump would have to stand on stage with him or her and deny everything exposed about him in the past five years, and the majority of the country will not tolerate it.
They’re over him.
They’re tired of him.
The republican party must hedge its bets on him again because he’s a safe bet. He isn’t new, untested.
It isn’t like any of the potential runners up have anything different to offer.
They’re still the party of tax cuts for the rich, environmental and financial deregulation, racism, xenophobia, guns, and jingoism.
The new republican House majority already knows Trump can deliver these like no one else, so why would it take a chance on someone smarter, slicker, more politically savvy, who lacks media allure?
You know who I worry about?
Ron DeSantis, Rick Scott, Ted Cruz, Josh Hawley, or any of the other potential candidates reportedly considering a try for 2024.
They’re smarter, slicker, more politically savvy.
Some are Ivy League-school educated.
All know how to work the levers of power.
Donald Trump does not.
But once he’s on stage with any of them during next year’s primary season, he’s going to launch into scorched-earth ad hominem fallacy-rich tirades that, like last time, will leave the republican establishment that didn’t want him the first time no choice — again.
It’ll be so entertaining , the profit-driven corporate media will be awash in positive ratings.
The wealthy corporations that own the massive media infrastructure benefiting from the tax scam Trump signed into law in 2017 want to continue their exploitation of the American tax system.

Remember what CBS president Les Moonves admitted in 2016:
Man, who would have expected the ride we’re all having right now? The money’s rolling in and this is fun. I’ve never seen anything like this, and this going to be a very good year for us. Sorry. It’s a terrible thing to say. But, bring it on, Donald. Keep going. It may not be good for America, but it’s damn good for CBS.
Avoid all the headaches, GOP.
There’s no need to fight the impending “civil war.”
You know you want Trump again, so just go ahead and admit it.
