Now that SCOTUS has Reversed Roe, We Risk Seeing More George Tillers
Now that the so-called "Christian" anti-choice metaphorical dogs have caught the car, be prepared to see more names of physicians with targets on their backs, like Drs. Tiller and Bernard.
On May 31, 2009, Dr. George Tiller was shot to death while attending Reformation Lutheran Church in Wichita, Kansas.
The killer was Fox so-called “news” anchor Bill O’Reilly.
Okay, not literally.
The actual killer was a man doing what he thought was O’Reilly’s bidding after the former Fox host referred to Dr. Tiller as a “baby killer” on air no fewer than 24 times.
According to the fact-checking site PolitiFact:
“Most of the time, O’Reilly would simply refer to the Tiller as ‘Tiller the baby killer’ or as ‘Dr. George Tiller, known as Tiller the baby killer’ without attributing it to anyone. We found four times when O’Reilly said that ‘some’ called him Tiller the baby killer. We did not find any instance where O’Reilly named an individual or a particular antiabortion group that referred to Tiller that way.”
What created such hatred in O’Reilly and subsequently the man who assassinated Dr. Tiller?
Dr. George Tiller was an abortion provider.
His murderer was an anti-choice so-“Christian” zealot.
While O’Reilly never told anyone to go out there and kill Tiller and he never personally pulled the trigger, he didn’t have to.
He was another right-wing hate media personality guilty of the stochastic terrorism metastasizing across America.
Now that the Supreme Court (SCOTUS) has reversed its 1973 Roe versus Wade decision that legalized abortion, we risk seeing more George Tillers.
Dr. Caitlin Bernard, the Indiana physician who performed an abortion recently on a 10-year-old rape victim, is facing credible threats against her and her daughter after Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett called Bernard out by name in an anti-choice ad before Barrett was appointed to the Court.
As The Guardian reported:
“Dr. Caitlin Bernard testified last year, in a case involving abortion restrictions in Indiana, that she was forced to stop providing first-trimester abortions at a clinic in South Bend. She stopped the procedures after she was alerted by Planned Parenthood — who in turn had been alerted by the FBI — that a kidnapping threat had been made against her daughter.”
Earlier this year, it was reported six abortion providers’ names, educational backgrounds, and workplaces were published on the website “Local Abortion Threat” belonging to the extreme anti-abortion group “Right to Life Michiana,” a site Justice Coney-Barrett extolled while a Notre Dame law professor.
The so-called “right-to-lifers” seem perfectly fine risking lives of women suffering ectopic pregnancies.
They seem fine with young girls — even in cases of rape and incest — carrying pregnancies to full term.
Now that the so-called “Christian” anti-choice metaphorical dogs have caught the car, be prepared to see more names of physicians with targets on their backs, like Drs. Tiller and Bernard.
Ready or not, here comes the American Taliban.
