I have titled this episode what I find myself frequently asking.
Two racists have finally been arrested for their February lynching of an African American man guilty of jogging while black.
I read a draft of a recent poem I completed titled "Latest Episode".
In what is sure to perpetuate trumpism for generations, Donald Trump and his puppet master, Mitch McConnell, are quietly ramming through more federal judges than any other president in history.
Last week I reported about climate scientists predicting this year will be the hottest in recorded history. Well, in a not entirely analogous connection, because of our inaction on the coronavirus, we could be facing the "darkest winter in modern history" according to former Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA), Dr. Rick Bright.
Considering World Health Organization (WHO) emergencies expert Mike Ryan warned "the virus may never go away," a dark winter is just the tip of the iceberg.
Try not to cry when listening to "How long can a heart last like this?," a "Voices of the Pandemic" piece from a New York frontline worker experiencing absolute hell on Earth after contracting COVID.
And, oh yes, meanwhile in America, the Trump administration is suing a Texas orphanage for land to build its racist border wall for which it stole $2.5 billion in Congressionally approved Pentagon funds.
My final rant: November is right around the corner. I know we have running for president a middle-of-the-road corporate Democrat who made it impossible to discharge student loans and tried several times to chip away at Social Security. But his opponent is a mendacious, racist, xenophobic, inexperienced reality TV failed businessman who has spent his entire first term as president undermining our institutions, emboldening white supremacists, alienating us from our international allies, caging refugees, and ignoring warnings of a global pandemic.
And that's not nearly a complete list.
Not even close.
Yes, Joe Biden has taken some questionable positions in his decades in Washington. No, he is not my first candidate (BERNIE!) So, why am I voting for him? Why should you? Just look at all the adjectives I used to describe Trump three paragraphs above. It's Biden vs. Trump. That's it. Voting third party is tantamount to handing Trump a second term. Ditto staying home like 46% of registered voters in 2016.
We have a duty to move Joe Biden further left. Think we can't do it? Read this.
If we stay "woke", active, engaged, we can have a better America. It's possible.
But only if we participate.
If not, hello Trump second term. Hello end of this wonderful Democratic experiment.
Join your local Democratic party.
Peace!
